Concerning the Liverpool docks dispute and International Day of Action

Because of the call for an international day of action to support the Liverpool dockers, the Danish dockers in the Freeport of Copenhagen held an assembly at 10:30 today. The assembly had the opportunity to listen to news from the Liverpool struggle from our colleagues Micky Tighe and Herbie Hollerhead and Sylvia Tighe from Women of the Waterfront.

After listening to our Liverpool colleagues a small collection of 2084,25 kr was made and a donation of 5000 kr voted for by the assembly.

The assembly voted on a proposal to down tools for the rest of the day by a show of hands:

46 for, 4 against (with some abstentions) voted to leave work in solidarity with the Liverpool Dock Workers. Work will be resumed Tuesday at 6:30 am.

3 boats were affected by this work stoppage: Panevezys, a ro-ro owned by the DFDS Baltic Line, and 2 smaller container feeder ships run by a local feeder service, Uniship.

Yours in Solidarity,

Soren Nyegaard
