The new Labour Studies route builds on the well established and regarded Politics degree. Politics on the degree are studied in the light of appropriate social science disciplines and history. The course material is drawn from a wide range of contemporary societies. The Labour Studies elements of the degree in turn are given a context by the study of Politics and complementary disciplines. The Labour Studies Units focus on Britain but within an international setting. Applicants should note that some Trade Unions are giving bursaries or book grants for this course.
The aim of the course is to equip students to enter the labour market as well qualified graduates with a range of skills and techniques drawn from the social sciences. Above all, graduates will possess a depth of knowledge and understanding of contemporary society, which will enhance their attractiveness to employers. Labour Studies students will particularly be able to increase their chances of employment in this area, and their usefulness to the labour movement.
The course is full-time and lasts three years.
