Since its formation in 1954 the Movement for Colonial Freedom -now Liberation- has campaigned in Britain and abroad for all those struggling to achieve freedom from oppression and exploitation.
We helped to launch important organisations such as the Anti-Apartheid Movement. War on Want, the Britain Vietnam Association, Chile Solidarity Campaign and many others.
Our efforts were appreciated by many countries and peoples around the world who have now achieved independence from Colonialism.
Great advances have been made, but old empires have been replaced by new forms of imperialism. Transnational Corporations now subjugate and exploit millions of people in the interests of capital and profit.
As a result, wars, mass killings, torture and famine are commonplace news items on our T.V. screens.
Liberation has much more work to do and the calls for our help and solidarity are greater than ever.
Opposition to racism continues to be an important part of our activities and publications.
We are strengthened and encouraged by the fact that the majority of Britain`s Trade Unions have affiliated to us and over 100 hundred M.P.s and M.E.Ps are among our sponsors. Many other organisations and individuals have affiliated and are members.
The United Nations recognises Liberation as a non-govermental organisation and we are able to represent the problems of oppressed minorities on a world stage.
You can help by joining Liberation as an individual member or by arranging for your organisation to affiliate.
Details of affiliation fees for large national organisations depending on membership will be provided on request.
