Dear Comrades,
This message of solidarity comes to you from the All India Central Council of Trade Unions and from many other fellow comrades attending the Fourth Indian Ocean Regional TU Conference (IORTUC) now underway in Calcutta. We had heard about your struggle from comrades of the South Asia Solidarity Group in London and also read about it in a recent issue of Inquilab. And here in the IORTUC we were glad to hear from comrades from the Liverpool Dockers' movement that despite betrayal by the trade union establishment of Britain you are still carrying forward your struggle. We are sending this small note to salute your fighting unity, courage and determination.
We firmly believe that through your inspiring action you are not only reclaiming and rejuvenating the progressive elements of working class tradition and culture in Britain but more importantly you are also contributing to the process of finding new answers to new problems.
While wishing you every success in this effort let us tell you that we believe that you have already achieved a significant victory. Your struggle stands out as a reassuring expression of the proletarian power and resolve to combat the racist and dehumanising offensive of imperialist capital.
Along with this message of solidarity, we are also taking this opportunity to send through the Liverpool comrades a few copies of the latest issue of our newsletter and some picture cards we had issued at the time of our last conference.
